Jesus loves me!!

 Remember that little song "Jesus loves me this I know for the Bible tells me so!"? Do you still believe this?

I want to assure you that there is NO sin in the world too great for His grace! Jesus took the blame for us. He was humiliated, tortured, rejected by mankind, and crucified for us! On top of it all He said: "Father, forgive them for they do not know what they are doing!"

The other day, I spoke to a man who said he is a Christian. He told me how he would sort out somebody that did him in. He said the Bible only said to turn the other cheek but it said nothing about turning it again. I wished I remembered otherwise I would have told him to forgive 70 x 7 which is 490 times in one day!

Yeah, yeah I don't always get it right either and I wish I could always apply that to my life.  Jesus did not come for the perfect people He came for the sinners. Christians who think they are now holy and perfect are making a mistake. While we live on earth in Satan's domain we will sin. We need to confess our sins constantly.

Jesus is knocking softly on our door and waiting for us to invite Him in. Go ahead today and let Him in. You will be amazed at the difference He can make in your life.

WAKE-UP CALLS IN LIFE

It is funny how days can pass by a person without you knowing and all of a sudden you are brought to an abrupt halt. Recently I developed a heart condition and all of a sudden every day becomes very important to you. Wake-up call received!

I have become quite complacent in my spiritual life and it was not so important as in the past to have dedicated devotional time with God every day. I wake up in the morning and I think I must not waste one moment of this day by staying in bed. God has awoken the earth on our side of the planet and the sun has scarcely put its head over the horizon and nature already awakes.

So, this morning I asked God for a word for this day that I can use. I opened my Bible and paged around for inspiration from Him. Let me first say I have a study Bible and there is some study text on each page and my eye fell on such a piece. This piece was discussing the story of the sinful woman that came to Jesus while He was dining with a Pharisee in his house. She washed His feet with her tears and dried them with her hair. Then she anointed His feet with an expensive ointment from an alabaster container. She also kissed His feet all over. You can read this in Luke 7:36-50. The Pharisee thought: "How can this man allow this sinful person to do this."

I have to admit that I have a tendency to judge people. They are fat, they are too thin, they are ugly, they are poor or they are dirty, etc. I am not proud of myself and have been wrestling with myself to stop doing this. This morning I asked myself what would I have done in this situation. Guess what! Another wake-up call!

What are the two most important commandments in the Bible? Love God above all and love your neighbor as yourself. Who is our neighbor? Is our neighbor not exactly this type of person? Can we really place ourselves, who are also redeemed sinners, above these people? Judge not lest ye not be judged.
